I am a New Zealand-based artist working in contemporary landscape painting. I am deeply interested in nature and the way everything within it connects to form the landscapes we see—light, water, land, weather, and time all working together in subtle, intricate ways. I work from places I have experienced and observed firsthand, moving between coastlines, alpine environments, forests, and urban spaces. I am drawn to the small details within these scenes—the shifts in colour, texture, and light—and how they come together to create a sense of place. When I paint, I tend to become very absorbed in what I am seeing. I prefer to stay true to the scene in front of me rather than change or invent elements as I go. For me, the process is about careful observation and allowing the painting to reflect the landscape as honestly as I can experience it. I am self-taught and probably my own harshest critic. This website was created by my son as a birthday gift—a gentle nudge of encouragement. At present, I am gradually sharing my work more openly and beginning to show my paintings to the public.
